December 8, 2007 Greetings Fellow Scouters,
For the many years we have been putting together a history of Chehaw Council. What follows is an interim edition of that work. It is still changing every few days as new information comes to our attention. However, we knew we could not wait until it was "finished" if we ever hoped to post the book. The history and the attachments are posted on this website in order to solicit additional information, photos, and/or documents to help make the book as accurate and complete as possible. We also need to know if any information is not accurate.
Your help is especially needed with old photos of Camp Osborn (i.e. Jasmine Springs, Blue Hole).
The interim edition will be closed on December 31, 2008 after which we will produce a first edition. The first edition will also be posted on the website for free downloading. Neither of us will make any money from this book. We are giving back to Scouting some of what Scouting gave to us.
Information should be emailed to mikegreene353@bellsouth.net Appendix 1 is a log of the significant changes that have been made to the document and appendices since November 1, 2007 so that readers can easily find additional material. We need to thank many, many people for providing scans, information and research. But, we wish to particularly thank Dr. J. Hubert Greene, Professor Emeritus from Georgia Southwestern State University, for his ongoing assistance in editing this document. Each time we read a part of the document we find that the typo monster has struck and inserted additional errors.
